Background

Dwayne Stewart, a Licensed Professional (Petroleum) Engineer in the State of Texas, has 30 years of oil and gas experience. Over the course of his career, Dwayne has contributed to and led a variety of teams for operating companies ranging from a multinational oil & gas company (ExxonMobil) to a large U.S. independent (BreitBurn) to a private start-up exploration company (Fairways). In each organization, Dwayne progressed through increasing levels of management and leadership.

Upon joining Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc. (NSAI) in 2004, Dwayne began consulting in petroleum engineering. Since that time, Dwayne has contributed to and authored reserve, resource, and competent person reports compliant with United States Securities & Exchange Commission Regulation S-X, Canadian Securities Administration NI 51-101, London Stock Exchange AIM regulations, and Australian Securities Exchange Listing Rules.

Actual operations experience enhances consulting solutions. The majority of energy company staff have never worked in the consulting world, and conversely, most consultants have never worked in energy companies. Dwayne has been on both sides of the equation and understands the issues and constraints imposed upon each. To bridge the operator/consultant divide, Foundation Energy, LLC began providing bespoke solutions in 2019 for business planning, asset optimization, economic evaluations, and financial modeling in the energy, energy transition, and associated sectors. As the company and its clientele grew, a name change to Foundation Energy Advisors, LLC occurred in 2025.

Dwayne has worked, managed, and led teams in operating environments ranging from:

  • 500’ TVD to 15,000’ TVD

  • dead, heavy oil to rich, natural gas

  • shallow, low-pressure, cold reservoirs to deep, high-pressure, hot reservoirs

  • conventional and unconventional formations

  • onshore and offshore locales

  • domestic and international

  • primary to secondary to tertiary recovery techniques

Dwayne has built an extensive network of operators and service providers; as such, he often functions as the project manager and coordinator when multi-functional disciplines are required.

No matter the challenge, Foundation Energy Advisors will quickly distill your complex problems into common sense solutions.
